Chatuchak District

Chatuchak District

Chatuchak district is solely known by the general public because of the weekend market. But what other attractions does the local area have for tourists?

Chatuchak or ‘Jatujak’ as it often referred to by Thai’s, is a popular district next to the downtown area of Bangkok. It is one of the fifty districts or ‘phets’ in Bangkok and has plenty to offer aside from the weekend market. Here are some of the attractions you can find in Chatuchak district:

Chatuchak Park

Located next to Chatuchak Weekend Market, Chatuchak Park is one of the most serene parks in Bangkok. It is a pleasant change to the bustle of the market and offers plenty of space to sit down and relax. If you want to get out of the market for some peace and quiet, feel free to take a load off in Chatuchak Park!

Bangkok Butterfly Garden

The butterfly garden is a hidden gem inside Chatuchak Park. The garden has many different species of butterflies but you must be quiet and still to get the full experience. If you get bored of shopping, this is a great place to hide out for a couple of hours.

Or Tor Kor Market

Or Tor Kor Market is a farmers market based down the road from the Weekend market and it will not disappoint. OTK has fresh food ready for all the hungry tourists in the morning. If you are looking for groceries during your stay in Bangkok be sure to swing by and pick up supplies. The market is very clean and the farmers sell their produce (which was handpicked the day before or in the morning) for very cheap.

Elephant Building

This is definitely picture-worthy. As you can guess by the name, this skyscraper is in the shape of an elephant. Weird right? Well, this building is something you want to show your friends and family back home. It was named as the fifth most iconic skyscraper by CNN in 2013 and has now grown in popularity with locals and tourists. The building has a shopping centre so go in and check it out!

JJ Green

You’re probably thinking “Oh, another market…” but this one has a great nightlife and character. If you are looking just to do some casual shopping or fancy some drinks in Chatuchak District this is the place to be. JJ Green has the best nightlife in the local area and has an array of cool bars to relax in or party the night away! For more information on JJ Green click here.
