Getting to Asiatique

Asiatique The Riverfront is easily accessible by boat. It is situated on the Chao Phraya River so the best way to get there is by BTS to Saphan Taksin (S6) and take a free shuttle boat trip across the river. This service is provided by Asiatique and although it can be busy during peak hours, it is still much quicker than catching a taxi as the roads around the area can be chaotic and slow-moving.

Things to do at Asiatique

Asiatique mixes a traditional street market with an open-air mall that gives visitors a unique experience in Bangkok. The site spans 12 acres over a newly developed port which ceased working operation in 1947. The new area has integrated some of the existing World War II buildings within the grounds such as the bomb shelter and an old saw mill which are now iconic sites at Asiatique.

The Market

The market is a replacement of the popular Suam Lum Night Bazaar which has since terminated their business in 2010. There are over 1,500 shops within the market and mall so you can be spoilt for choice! The market itself is similar to many others such as Chatuchak Market or JJ Green. The stalls are small but large in personality which makes this market a worthwhile visit.

The Mall

The key difference between this mall and many others in Bangkok is the open-air feel. Instead of being stuck inside a refrigerator-style building, you are able to enjoy shopping in the Thai heat. Asiatique has a wide range of small boutique shops that are filled with items that can’t be found anywhere else. The mall has an individuality which is refreshing as many of the Bangkok malls can be very similar in structure.

Eating at Asiatique

There is no shortage of food while eating at Asiatique. If you are looking for Seafood, Italian, Steak or Mexican there seems as though there is a little for everyone here. Much like the shops and stalls, the restaurants are catered for the warm weather so there is outside seating in all of the establishments. The majority of the eateries are slightly more expensive than normal Thai prices but the quality of the food makes it justifiable.

Kids Entertainment

In the Future Section of the park, Quad Bikes are a big attraction with many Adults and Children. With two dedicated courses for people to race around on, there is plenty of fast action to be had on the track. Mr Robot, a transformer machine that you are able to fully function, is also popular with children. Both activities cost around 300 Baht.
