Things to do at Lumpini

With so much going on all the time, Lumpini Park is often referred to as the ‘Central Park of Bangkok’. Here are some suggestions to check out:

Wildlife Watching

Despite being in Bangkok’s city centre, Lumpini is home to spectacular wildlife. The most popular sight is the Asian water monitoring lizard which can be found in the park. The lizards tend to dip in and out of the Lumpini lakes and are a rare find if you happen to come across one. The lizards can grow up to five feet long so keep your eyes peeled!

Cycling

Many people go to Lumpini to cycle. There is a 2.5 km track within the park which is predominately used by walkers, joggers, and cyclists. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced cyclist, everyone is welcome to have a go just remember that cycling is only permitted between the hours of 10am-3pm.

Lumpini Lake

There is plenty of water in Lumpini Park but Lumpini Lake is the focal point for many tourists. The lake creates a peaceful backdrop for people to sit and relax away from the busy streets of Bangkok. Want to go on the lake? Hire a Swan paddle boat for 40 Baht per 30 minutes to have a little fun on the water!

Tai Chi is very popular during the day in Lumpini so feel free to join in with a public session or if you fancy a swim head on down to the swimming pool in the north of the park. Soccer, Basketball, and Tennis are also readily available for visitors so pop down and try it out.

Kids Entertainment

Lumpini Park is a fantastic day out for children as there is plenty of free space for them to run around a play. There are several play sets around the park for your kids to swing, climb and play on. For a more peaceful setting, head to Thailand’s oldest public library which is open to all visitors to the park. The library is open 8am-8pm Tuesday to Sunday every week.
