There are a large number of stalls in Section 17, but also dotted all around the market offering various ceramics for the home. There is an array of ceramics in many different styles including classic ceramics used as tableware such as cups, bowls and plates, ceramic dolls and home decorations to name a few.
The decorations on these pieces are very traditional, but also quite spectacular. There are around 200 stalls offering various ceramics some of which are handmade at the market, with the rest being sourced from around Thailand.
Worldwide, Thailand is well known for its Thai silk. Famous for its beautiful designs, flamboyant colours and exceptional quality, the best place to buy this silk is in Bangkok and where better than Chatuchak market. There are many excellent silk stalls that are priced very reasonably.
Silk products include Thai silk shawls, shirts, pants, ties, shoes, scarves and bags. Although it is fairly inexpensive, if you purchase several items, the overall cost will be less. However, quality is everything when it comes to Thai silk, so make sure you inspect any merchandise before making a purchase, and check several of the silk stalls for quality first.
